What's the most that you would spend on jeans, cotton twills, or cords?

Would they be dressy or casual? Where do you buy them? A news story last spring said upscale jeans ($130+) were one item that escaped the doomed economy because customers could splurge a relatively small amt on something they would wear many times. Is this a widespread attitude?
