What's a good basic software for a beginning photographer?

I would like a good software to use with RAW files. I don't want to do any fancy post-processing. I just want to be able to fix exposure and sharpen colors, sometimes. I want my photos to look natural, and I'm not looking to do strange effects with them. What do you suggest--- Photoshop, Lightroom, anything else? What are the pros and cons of the different softwares out there? Thanks :)
