How do i know if my parents installed internet monitoring systems on my laptop?

i feel like i am being watched. I need to know if my parents installed monitoring systems (ie. net nanny, etc.) on my computer. I have a laptop and they use the computer, and i fear that somehow they are getting my IMs and websites. How would i be able to find if spyware is being used and how do i uninstall it?
