A survey question: What do you know about religious texts like the Nag Hammadi codices?

Some of them may be valid historical doents though the ones I'm familiar with were mostly discredited because of some affiliation with gnostic thought. Jesus could have been a gnostic in a sense though, it's entirely possible. The only reason one account is acceptible over another often just has to do with the philosophy of the original church cannons.
