Help! am i being out of line here?

my fiance wants to have a football mascot at our wedding reception and i just cant do it. it is a formal wedding and reception and i dont know but i feel like thats making a joke out of it. hes a die hard fan and i get it but should he put that aside for our wedding? or am i at fault for not wanting it there?
